LIVING FOR AUTISTIC PEOPLE

Living for autistic people is a supervised residential program for adolescents and young adults on the autism spectrum. It offers support and encouragement on the way to an independent life. The objectives and support services are geared towards the special needs of the target group.

On the one hand, the residential offer provides a place of retreat for the young adults and, on the other hand, enables them to connect and participate in social life. Housing for autistic people is an ideal complement to the vocational measures that are also provided by the Foundation “Stiftung Informatik für Autisten”. This offers a full range of professional and social integration.

This integration measure is offered exclusively at two locations in the canton of Zurich.

Possible offers

“Living for autistic people” offers intensive care as well as residential support. The main focus of support occurs from Monday to Friday between 6.00 – 9.00 AM and 5.00 – 9.00 PM. A 24-hour on-call service is guaranteed outside the on-site care hours. “Living for autistic people” also offers residential coaching. The scope is determined on an individual basis and is aimed at people who already live in their own apartment.

Target group

The range of services is aimed at adolescents and young adults who

are affected by a mild form of the autism spectrum, in particular Asperger’s autism.
are engaged in a structured daily routine (vocational measure).
need support in everyday living due to health, personal or educational circumstances.

Services

“Living for autistic people” offers autism-friendly, individually tailored support and guidance in the following areas:

Support in maintaining daily structure and self-organization
Support in everyday and practical life (household, hygiene, nutrition, etc.)
Promotion of social, socio-emotional and language skills
Promotion of independence and self-determination
Psychosocial support (physical and mental health, personal goals, coping with diagnosis, etc.)
Support in establishing social conenctions and recreational activities
Support in administration and finances
Networking with the environment and support network (relatives, training company, doctors, therapists, IV, etc.)
Support in finding follow-up solutions

Facilities & Locations

The residential support services are offered in the municipalities of Dietikon and Oerli-kon in the canton of Zurich.

“Living for autistic people” provides living space in three 3.5-room apartments in Oerlikon and one 4.5-room and one 5.5-room apartment in Dietikon (near the company).

The housing estates are centrally located, have good public transport connections and offer various shopping facilities in the immediate vicinity.

The apartments/rooms are furnished, with the living room, kitchen and bathroom being shared.
